Virginia Commonwealth University, the state's largest urban public research university, is located in Virginia's capital city, Richmond. Enrolling more than 23,100 students on the Academic and Medical College of Virginia (MCV) Campuses, the university offers 144 degree programs for full- and part-time students in its eleven schools and the College of Humanities and Sciences. With 1,500 full-time faculty attracting more than $110 million in research grants and contracts, and over 13,000 staff, the university's annual budget exceeds $1.2 billion.
The MCV Campus, one of the largest and most comprehensive health sciences complexes in the nation, offers programs through the Schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. MCV Hospitals, which has been ranked as one of the best in “The Best Hospitals in America” survey, provides primary and secondary care to the metropolitan area and serves as a tertiary care referral center for the southeast region.
The Academic Campus, with the nation's largest School of the Arts and the south's oldest School of Social Work, also offers degree programs through the Schools of Business, Mass Communications, Engineering and Education, as well as the College of Humanities and Sciences. The Division of Community and International Programs serves more than 20,000 citizens throughout Virginia.
The Evening Studies Program, one of the largest and most comprehensive in the United States, offers nontraditional students the opportunity to pursue 64 degree programs.
